SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1—Clotilde Rullaud's Vocal Resonances

ClotildeResonanceSingers who met and worked with Clotilde Rullaud in Paris are eager to have her come to Chicago.

Elizabeth Doyle, "Anyone interested in using their own body as an instrument will find Clotilde's workshop fascinating and essential." Barb Smith says, "Fabulous!"

Clotilde describes her session: "I am going to continue from last year's Cabaret Connexion conference to 'sing with one's bones'. You can apply this to your songs in French or English. We explore vowels and consonants, how to rely on diction, resonators, sound colors and textures to release and share the emotion contained in a poetic text. 'It's because I'm resonating that the Other resonates with me.'
  • the discovery of the vocal instrument
  • the singer's own breathing, mobilization of the different diaphragms
  • the exploration of the resonators and the oral cavity
  • The refinement of the ear by listening to the bones and their harmonics"
    1 PM to 7 PM
5 hours plus 1 hour midday break
Wear comfortable clothes. Bring the score and lyrics of a song that you will sing a cappella. She encourages those singers who have a song in French to bring it on, but English is fine, too.
Clotilde asks that you send a copy or a YouTube link so she can become acquainted with it in advance! contact at
